Open Mouth-Insert Foot

Our actions are dictated and governed by the end result of conclusive final judgements based upon analytical analysis of the logical order initiated by a given set of information values whether it be true or false, half truths, perceived, or preconceived, or circumstantial in nature. When assumptions are entered into the equation, then our judgements can become tainted and misguided often resulting in under/over reactions and a final end result of wrong conclusions which can inflict hurt and injury to innocent individuals, often the ones we love. Having said this, Let the story begin:
I was fortunate to have a job that was only about fifteen minutes away from my home. My wife often drops me off at work to run her errands while I am at work. When she exits the freeway, she makes a left turn under the freeway and I am on the corner in the parking lot for a quick rescue from a demanding day.
My job was especially hard this hot summer day. It was the middle part of July and the hot Texas sun proved to be unrelenting as I worked on the hot asphalt in the parking lot. Please keep in mind that it shows no mercy as it drains you of your energy. You begin to notice how sweaty you are as your shirt collar begins to clings to the back of your neck and sweat drips from your chin. Your feet are also are burning and tired. After all, you feel like you have been in an oven all day. All I could think about was quitting time and resting in the cool air conditioned apartment.
When I clocked out, I went into the parking lot to wait for my wife. With anticipation, I would watch each cycle of cars as the cars would make the left turn under the freeway. As I waited, the sun was bearing down upon me. As I am wilting from the heat, questions arise in my mind. Is this the cycle of cars that my wife is making her left turn? As the cycle of cars are depleted, I began to ask myself, "Where can she be and why was she late? She knows what time I get off.
With every cycle of cars there was no wife. My temperature would rise with each cycle of cars that my wife was not a part of. An hour has now passed and now I was fit to be tied!!! I was really hot, not just from the sun!!! I walked backed into the building and picked up the phone to call her. When she picked up the phone, I got even hotter, for I knew she still was fifteen minutes away!! WHY DIDN'T YOU COME AFTER ME I SCREAMED???!!!
A soft voice on the other end said, "Honey, You took the car today".
Silence........................................................................................................
(I had parked behind the building in the parking lot.)

I see you've just become a fan. Which Hub did you read that caused you to start following me? Just curious. This Hub reminds me of me doing the same stuff. Some times we act without all the facts in and often it either gets us in trouble or makes us look bad in front of others. The end result is we sometimes end up falling all over ourselves apologizing to someone.
Jim,
The heat does terrible things to a man doesn't it. I am often guilty of moving things around in the house, and then blaming her, when I can't find those things. But I do remember those days when she drove, and I had to wait.
Great Hub
God Bless
Very funny story! Thanks for sharing!
That's like when I frantically look for my sunglasses only to find them on top of my head! Thanks and my best wishes to you on your new farming endeavor! I want to hear more!
Jim, what is great about these "mysterious happenings" it seems to be accepted--as we go forward---or backwards in time. I have wrote several hubs on this subject and I am still laughing at it. Yes, this world needs more LAUGHTER so keep it coming.
That's hilarious! I really enjoyed this hub. I think we all have moments of our own like that, unfortunately! Thanks for sharing.
How funny! Thanks for that bit of humor on an otherwise dreary, rainy day!
Very cute.
What a wonderful story ... :-))
Reminds me of my own excesses in foot-in-the-mouth category...

It's OK Jim, just blame the heat.
Your wife should have thought of that and phoned you earlier to remind you that you had the car :-)
